Elaina Burdo Photographer
ELAINA BURDO was born on a southern Louisiana bayou where she began capturing images well before her teens. An innate storyteller - never short of a “click", her repertoire ranges from alligators to bull riders. Treasured photos include: President Ronald/Nancy Reagan; Prince Charles/Princess Diana and Mikhail/Raisa Gorbachev for TIME. Publications: Conde Naste, Variety, Animation and Sotheby’s. Corporate projects have included: CBS, NBC, and Johnson Edwards Productions – capturing celebrities and star studded events.
Burdo enrolled at the American Film Institute, Ray Bradbury Study. In 1999, Burdo attended Professional Photographers of America class with Arnold Newman. In 1999, Burdo joined PPA and won three merit awards in Atlanta, GA. In 2000, Burdo became a P.P.A. Certified Professional Photographer, (CPP). In 2002, Burdo received Western States Professional Photographer's of California President’s Award in Pasadena, CA. In 2003, P.P.R.E. in Sonoma County, CA, presented Burdo with the Photographers’ Choice Award and 1st place in Portraits. In Las Vegas, NV, at the P.P.A. International Print Competition three more merits were earned. The image, “Autumn,” was chosen and published in the 2003, P.P.A. Showcase Book and in 2006, “Autumn” was published again on the cover of the P.P.A. Education Guide. Since 2006, Burdo has photographed world renown bestselling author, Francine Rivers.
Burdo attended Brooks Institute for the Teacher’s and Visual Artist Workshop where she was inspired to create and write the FUNdamentals In Photography Curriculum for high school students.
She lives with her husband and family on an apple ranch in northern California. For the last decade, her focus has been on home educating their four children, seizing every photo op and perfecting her apple cobbler.
